High Fashion & Natural Hair

I love fashion and always have, over the years I have notice that many of the high fashion models and models in commercials have natural hair and I love it!! Do not get me wrong there is still a major discrepancy in the amount of Black women in the fashion industry. Not to mention in the media we are not always shed in the best of light smh. But on the positive side of things I feel encouraged when I  see women of color strutting their stuff on the catwalk, on the cover of high fashion magazines, and in beauty commercials Embracing Their Crown so one day the rest of the world will do the same 🙂

Below are a few beautiful models that inspire me and have made their mark on the fashion industry as well as in the natural hair community.

Happy Mothers Day!!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Beautiful Mothers out there that give so much!! Hope you all have an awesome day!! 🙂

What “Mother” Means
“Mother” is such a simple word,
But to me there’s meaning seldom heard.
For everything I am today,
My mother’s love showed me the way.
I’ll love my mother all my days,
For enriching my life in so many ways.
She set me straight and then set me free,
And that’s what the word “mother” means to me.
Thanks for being a wonderful mother, Mom!

Happy Mothers Day!!

So I just received my bottle of hairfinity in the mail today! I have been wanting to try the product for a while now after seeing all the amazing results online and to see if it would do the same for my hair. I really like the tips in this video about what to do and expect while taking hairfinity by @ms_black

1.) Best to take hairfinity while hair is in a protective style for best results
– I will be getting box braids tomorrow

2.) Best to take 1 pill a day instead of the recommended 2 pills a day to combat break outs

3.) Best to take it with a hefty meal and wash it down with a hot cup of tea

I will do an update post with before and after pictures once I finish my first bottle and will try to do a product review video as well. Looking forward to the results I will keep you posted 🙂

EYC Inspiration!!

Found this online and wanted to share it with you lovely ladies!! Sometimes you just have to let your hair down, look in the mirror and embrace your best self even if it comes with flaws. I have learned that what ever you do work hard at it, and do it passionately or don’t do it at all. Hope this conveys a bit of inspiration for you as it did for me!! 🙂

Protective Styling!!….”The Bun”

Image

This is the time of year when I make an effort to wear more protective styles to give my hair a break for a while. Last week was very busy for me…..I really did not have time to do my hair like I usually do! So I wore my hair in a high bun for like 6 days straight lol! It was very convenient and low maintenance; the bun also helped to protect my ends.
My hair was already stretched from the week before so that made styling quick and easy just the way I like it lol!!
-I oiled my scalp
-Moisturized my ends
-Gelled it up
-Used bobby pins to tuck away the ends
At night I took the bun down to prevent strain on my edges and just repeated those steps again in the a.m.

The bun is definitely my go to protective style when I need something quick, easy, and cute. It is also great for naturals that are currently transitioning!! If you have other low maintenance protective styles I would love to know 🙂

EYC Music Wednesday!! Majesty Rose

I have not watched American Idol since the season with Fantasia and Jhud! Mostly because television started to be saturated with karaoke styled music shows with less and less talent…But tonight I was flicking through the channels and saw this talented natural haired beauty and instantly became a fan. She is very unique in her musicality and style, you can tell from her demeanor she is confident in her skin and is Embracing Her Crown. That is exactly why I want to feature her on EYC Music Wednesday….Not to mention she is a Carolina Girl LOL!

A few FYI’s about Majesty Rose: She was born Majesty Rochelle York in Goldsboro NC  on February 29, 1992. She plays 3 instruments the violin, cello, and guitar, before American Idol she was a preschool teacher. She is currently a Top 9 finalist on America Idol. Support this natural haired songbird….I cant remember if anyone has every won one of these show with natural hair 🙂
